Assessments methods and procedures
Our assessment day is thorough; several methods are applied. An assessment usually takes 4 to 8 hours.
A psychological interview and skill and personality tests are an important part of the assessment. We also assess the person's motivation and operating style with various tasks, and we test the person’s language skills. Assessment also includes, if so required, various task-specific simulations.
Interviews
Psychological interviews are an important part of the assessment process. During the interviews, we go through the assessed person’s education and work experience, life history and current situation in life. We pay special attention to the achievements, motivation and personal way of working of the assessed person. Interviews can also be used to investigate the person’s managerial characteristics.
Skill tasks
We apply researched methods that are among the best in the market. Our tests measure logical, verbal and numerical skills, decision-making patterns, accuracy and speed of perception and spatial ability of the assessed persons. We vary the tests in accordance with the open positions, and select the methods most suitable for each situation.
Our tests are in Finnish, Swedish and English. We always compare the results with Finnish norms.
Personality tests
In order to receive a very reliable and extensive view of the assessed persons’ personality, we utilise both in-depth and structured personality tests based on self-evaluation. Several different methods are used in order to measure the most important features, and on the basis of the results an expert can create a more reliable view.
Case tasks
In order to define the applicant’s views, attitudes and professional competence we often build, in cooperation with our client, case tasks tailored for the specific position. In the assessment of the applicant’s capabilities, we get important support from the client’s know-how.
Simulations
Simulations are used to assess special skills needed in the task. We strive to create and simulate situations the applicant might encounter in the job. Simulations may be written tasks or practical situations that are discussed with the applicant as pair work (consultant – applicant). These may include various problem situations where the applicant’s approach, attitude, ideas and means of dealing with the situation are assessed.
Language skills
We assess the applicant’s oral language skills in Finnish, Swedish, English and Estonian, and, as necessary, written skills as well.
